PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP, up to 5 MB. A logo hides part of the code, so error correction is raised to High when you add one. Keep it under about a quarter of the width; the scan check tells you if it is too big.

4 modules

Scanners need a clear border around the code. Four modules is the standard; use less only if the code will sit on a plain background with space around it.

How to Create a QR Code in 3 Steps

    1. Choose What It Opens

Pick the type of code: a link or PDF, text, Wi-Fi, a contact card, an email, a text message, a phone call, WhatsApp, a location or an event. Then fill in the details. Choose Bulk to make many codes at once from a list or a CSV file.

    2. Style Your Code

Choose colors and the shape of the modules and corner squares, add your logo and a caption such as “Scan me”. The preview updates as you go, and a scan check confirms the code still reads.

    3. Download and Use It

Download a PNG or JPG for screens, or an SVG or PDF for print. The vector files stay sharp at any size, from a business card to a poster.

Why Use Our QR Code Generator?

Everything a paid QR code service offers for static codes, free and without an account.

    Free, With No Expiry

No sign-up, no watermark and no subscription. What the code opens is stored in the code itself, so it keeps working for good and never passes through anyone’s redirect server.

    Privacy First

Your codes are made in your browser. Links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and logos are never uploaded, stored or tracked.

    Your Logo and Colors

Match your brand with your own colors, rounded or dotted modules, styled corner squares, a logo in the middle and a caption underneath.

    Built-In Scan Check

Every design is read back by a QR decoder as you edit, so you know a logo or a color has not made the code unreadable before you print it.

    Vector SVG and PDF

Download SVG or PDF for crisp printing on flyers, menus, labels and packaging, or PNG and JPG up to 4096 pixels for the web.

    Bulk QR Codes

Paste a list or open a CSV to make up to 1,000 codes at once, as a ZIP of images or a PDF of labeled codes on A4 or US Letter sheets.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I make a QR code?

Choose the type of code, fill in the details and watch the preview update. Style it if you like, then click Download PNG, or choose SVG, PDF or JPG. The code is ready to print or share straight away, and you do not need an account.

How do I create a QR code for a PDF?

A QR code cannot hold a PDF file, only a link to one. Upload the PDF somewhere public, such as your website, Google Drive or Dropbox, and set its sharing to “anyone with the link”. Copy that link, choose Link in the generator and paste it in. Anyone who scans the code opens the PDF. If you later replace the file at the same address, the same code opens the new version.

To print a different code on every PDF you generate, such as tickets or invoices that each link to their own page, see our guide to dynamic QR codes in PDFs.

    Do these QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes: what they open is written into the code itself, so they work for as long as the link, number or details in them do. There is no subscription to keep paying and no redirect service that could shut down. The trade-off is that a static code cannot be edited once it is printed, so if the destination may change, point the code at a page you control.

Can I add my logo to a QR code?

Yes. Open Logo, add a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP image and choose its size. QR codes carry error correction, so part of a code can be covered and still read. The generator switches to High error correction when you add a logo and clears the modules behind it. Keep the logo under about a quarter of the code’s width, and watch the scan check under the preview.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name and password, and pick the security type, which is WPA for almost every home and office router. Pointing an iPhone’s or a recent Android phone’s camera at the code offers to join the network, with no typing. Print it for guests, a café counter or a meeting room.

Which file format should I download?

Use SVG or PDF for anything printed. Both are vector, so the code stays sharp at any size. SVG works in Illustrator, Figma, Canva and recent versions of Word, and PDF is what most print shops ask for. Use PNG for websites, slides and documents, with a transparent background if you need one, and JPG where only JPEG is accepted.

How big should a printed QR code be?

At least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide for a short link scanned from close up, and larger as the content grows. The generator shows the smallest width it recommends for your code under the preview. For scanning from further away, a common rule is a width of one tenth of the scanning distance, so a code read from 2 metres should be about 20 cm wide.

Why won’t my QR code scan?

The usual causes are low contrast, a code lighter than its background, a logo that covers too much, too small a margin, or a code printed too small for how much it holds. The scan check and the notes under the preview point out each of these. Fix the one they name, or go back to black on white with square modules, which every scanner reads.

    What is error correction?

Spare data that lets a code be read when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered. Low can recover about 7% of the code, Medium 15%, Quartile 25% and High 30%. Higher levels make the code denser, so use Medium for plain codes, and High with a logo or for codes that will get scuffed, such as on packaging.

Can I create QR codes in bulk?

Yes. Choose Bulk and paste one link or text per line, or open a CSV file whose first column holds the content and second column a name. You can make up to 1,000 codes at once with the same design, and download them as a ZIP of PNG, JPG or SVG files named after each row, or as a PDF of labeled codes on A4 or US Letter sheets.

    Are my details uploaded anywhere?

No. The codes are made by your own browser. Links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and logos are never uploaded to our servers, so nothing is stored or shared.

Can I add QR codes to generated PDFs automatically?

Yes, with APITemplate.io. Its templates have a built-in QR code component with custom colors, dots, corner squares and a logo, so every PDF or image you generate through the REST API, Zapier or Make.com can carry its own code.

    What is APITemplate.io?

APITemplate.io is designed for generating PDF documents from reusable templates. It can be easily integrated with popular tools like Zapier, Airtable, Make.com, Bubble.io, n8n, UiPath, or directly via REST API, making it highly adaptable to various workflows.
